guitar pickup setup

Today’s video is completely different than other videos I have on my channel.

If I asked you what is the secret of a great guitar tone, you will probably answer:

  • “Getting the right guitar / pickups”

  • “Having the right amp / effects”

  • Or maybe you are one of those “tone is in the fingers” guys, so you’d answer: “Learn to play and you will sound good!”

And all of the above is true - far from me to deny the contribution of electronic and playing competence.

Tone is both in the gear and in your fingers…

… but how is it that nobody mentions what is probably at the same time the most important variable, the easiest to change, and the cheapest to fix?

See, one of the things I like in life: maximum impact with minimum effort…

… like this little thing I show in this video where I take a Squier that my friend Kamil bought recently…

… and in few minutes, using only a screwdriver and my ears, I make it sound way way better than it ever did before :-)

The beauty of all this? You can do this too, and I’ll show you step by step.

P.S. While in this video our goal is a “Strat tone”, everything I do will show you how to get a “Gibson tone”, or anything else. It’s not about the type of guitar :-)

P.P.S. If your friend has a “cheap” guitar that sound better than your “expensive” guitar… this is probably why :-)

P.P.P.S. You know what though? Also knowing exactly WHAT to play will make you sound way way better! Make sure you are never going to get a wrong note again by checking out the Master of the Modes guitar course
